Health Benefits of Parsley

Parsley is a rich source of vitamins like vitamin C, K, A, folate etc. Parsley also contains iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium and volatile oils like myristicin, eugenol, limonene and alpha-thujene. It is also rich in flavonoids like apigenin, luteolin, apiin and crisoeriol. These oils and flavonoids play an important role in imparting the medicinal properties to parsley.

Detoxifier
Parsley act as a detoxifier and it wards off the unwanted toxic substances from our body through the urine. It helps to dissolve the sticky substances attached to the blood vessels and also aids to keep the elasticity of the blood vessels. Hence it can protect us from kidney stones, gall stones, urinary infections, bladder stones etc.

Protects Heart
Parsley which is rich in folate can convert the harmful homocysteine present in our body to more harmless products. Homocysteine if present may cause damage to the blood vessels and artery. Regular intake of parsley also helps to lower the high blood pressure and the level of bad cholesterol in the blood. Thus parsley helps to keep the heart in good condition.

Rheumatoid Arthritis
This is a condition developed due to the accumulation of uric acid in different parts of the body like joints, muscles etc. Parsley being a detoxifier can clean the blood by removing the toxic substances and as diuretic it will increase the flow of urine and thus eliminate excess salt, uric acid, water etc from the body.Parsley thus purifies the blood and stimulates the circulation of the blood through out the body by removing the uric acid accumulated in the body. Thus parsley plays an important role in protecting the body from rheumatoid arthritis.
